The war and European integration, the food crisis in the world and dynamic climate changes — all this makes the agenda of the traditional annual event especially acute and «on time».

What are the issues on the agenda?

What is the EU policy in 2022-23 regarding the implementation of the EU Green Deal, biodiversity and the development of organic production?

It is important to be aware of all the possibilities and limitations of the EEC that await the national producer. For European manufacturers, the absolute majority of obligations under the EWC are financially unaffordable, so the European Union is allocating incredible funds for the implementation of the new agreement: a little over a trillion euros by 2050. However, these funds are intended exclusively for producers of the European Union countries.

Ukraine can count only on technical assistance in the adaptation of legislation and loans from financial institutions — EBRD, EIB or investment banks of individual EU member states. That is, our manufacturers will be deprived of the financial opportunities that their European partners and competitors will have? Has the 2022 war year changed anything?

What are the prospects of carbon farming in Europe and where is the place of Ukraine?

The European Commission (EC) considers itself an innovator in creating a comprehensive system for the certification of all types of carbon removal. «Carbon farming» — primarily the sequestration of carbon in land sinks such as forests or soils — has become the new buzzword in the recent climate debate, and the EU is promoting carbon farming as a key solution for the future decarbonization of the European Union (EU). How is this reform seen in Ukraine?

How did the war affect the spectrum of violations in the agricultural sector under the prism of the implementation of environmental legislation?

Chemical and biological safety: how is Ukraine moving towards the EU and what confuses agricultural producers?

How to achieve a sustainable food system with the help of national producers? How to solve urgent problems of fish farming?

Without secure livelihoods, small-scale farmers and fishers will continue to struggle to build the necessary capacity and resource base to transition to sustainable production patterns.

A flexible system cannot be built on an unstable foundation. Thus, addressing the systemic structures that perpetuate poverty is critical to the success of achieving a sustainable food system.

Rehabilitation and restoration of soils after hostilities: what are the possible solutions?

Experts are increasingly emphasizing the need to use organic waste, microbiological tools and the technology of «zero» processing (No-till). Microbiological tools make it possible to reduce the pesticide load and the amount of chemical fertilizers — the effectiveness of biotechnology has already been proven in practice by agricultural holdings and farms. Implementation of the above-mentioned approaches is the personal responsibility of farmers. However, a comprehensive solution to the problem of degradation is possible only if all interested parties – the state, business, scientists, educators, and the public — unite their efforts.

Effective regulation of industrial animal husbandry. Reducing methane emissions and beginning the food system transformation needed to meet global climate goals.

Is the era of cheap fertilizers over? How will it affect the transformation of agricultural production?

Are the challenges seen as a financial burden for farmers, for the state budget, or a serious impact on the environment and health, as well as long-term risks to food security?
